Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry began at Littlefield eight years ago. This is a ministry of prayer, love, and knitting for people in life’s transitions. The shawls are given to cancer patients, and other illnesses, those grieving the loss of a loved one, someone suffering depression or a trauma. This ministry also extends into all the joys of life and our thankfulness for new births, baptisms, and marriage celebrations.

The shawls have been knitted by women who have enjoyed each others’ fellowship as they have knitted together once a month. In addition, some women have knitted at home, then contributed their shawls to be blessed by the group. We have received many messages of appreciation for the loving acts of comfort and encouragement the shawls have symbolized, both locally and in far away places.

The knitters meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at 1:00 pm at Littlefield Church. Anyone who likes to knit or would like to learn to knit is very welcome. Kits with instructions and yarn are available for your use.
